Nose-Replacement Guide Bar is a type of chain saw bar that features a replaceable nose. This is an important safety feature because it helps reduce kickback, which occurs when the bar nose unintentionally makes contact with a solid object. These bars are made for high speed, heavy duty chainsaws and preferred by professional workers.
Sprocket Nose Bars
Sprocket nose bars have a built-in sprocket at the bar tip that is aligned with a chain sprocket for support. They have a lower kickback tendency and better cutting performance than other types of bars.
They work best on saws equipped with low-kickback chain and are recommended for professional woodcutting jobs. They are designed to minimize the force needed to operate the saw and reduce operator fatigue.
Our sprocket nose professional bars are available in different lengths, depending on the specific application and powerhead used with them. They are made with precision heat-treated rails and high-grade alloy steel for strength that enables them to resist wear and improve chain lubrication. They are also designed to maximize the speed at which the chain moves on the bar, delivering greater cutting efficiency with less vibration and noise. They can be dressed and re-machined to extend their runtime, reducing maintenance time on the jobsite. They come with either a hard or replaceable sprocket nose.
Hard Nose Bars
Hard nose bars, as the name implies, are solid pieces of metal with no removable components. They're ideal for dirty conditions and bore cutting (where the chain is driven into a log by its nose).
The lack of a sprocket makes these bars more robust, since there is no mechanism to wear out or clog. That also means they're less sensitive to heat generated in dirty cutting conditions.
Hard nose bars require lower chain tension than sprocket-nose bars to counter the increased friction around the bar nose. That may reduce cutting speed slightly and may make these bars more difficult to maneuver, especially in thick timber. However, many professional users prefer them for their ruggedness and durability.
Replaceable Nose Bars
Designed for professional woodcutters with large saws, these bars have a replaceable nose section. They feature a low-vibration, full chisel cutter chain that reduces the force required of the operator to cut, while offering a superior cutting performance. They're available in a variety of mount, pitch and gauge and come in lengths up to 59".
The bar is made from a single piece of solid, machined steel and includes a sealed nose sprocket that keeps dirt and corrosive material out, eliminating the need for greasing. It's induction hardened for long life and has angled oil delivery holes that increase flow and reduce clogging.
If the nose is damaged or impaired with rust, it can be easily repaired by loosening the screw and replacing only the retaining block. This is a much cheaper option than replacing the entire bar. This reduces maintenance costs, which is an important consideration for busy professionals. These bars also have a higher risk of kickback and should only be used by trained professionals.
